Measure the tabletop, choose the finished drop you want, then add that drop to both sides to calculate the correct tablecloth size.

Identify the table shape

  • For a rectangular table, measure the length and width.
  • For a square table, measure one side.
  • For a round table, measure the diameter through the centre.

  • Measure the tabletop edge to edge with the tape flat and straight.
  • Record every dimension in centimetres.
  • For an extendable table, measure it at the size you plan to use.
Choose your finished drop

  • For everyday dining, allow a 20–30 cm drop.
  • For a formal setting, allow a 30–45 cm drop.
  • For a floor-length finish, use the table height as the drop.
Calculate the tablecloth size

  • Rectangular or square cloth length = table length + twice the drop.
  • Rectangular or square cloth width = table width + twice the drop.
  • Round cloth diameter = table diameter + twice the drop.
  • Choose the nearest available size that gives your preferred finished drop.
