How to Measure — Pillows, Pillowcases & Protectors

Measure the pillow insert itself to select the correct pillowcase and pillow protector. Lay the insert flat without compressing it, record the length and width, then match all three layers by size.

Identify the Pillow Size

Standard pillow: 45 × 70 cm.
King pillow: 50 × 90 cm.
Continental pillow: 80 × 80 cm.
Measure the insert rather than relying on an old pillowcase or protector.

Measure the Length

Lay the pillow flat on a firm surface.
Measure seam to seam along the longest edge.
Record the length in centimetres without compressing the fill.

Measure the Width

Keep the pillow flat and uncompressed.
Measure seam to seam across the shorter edge at the widest point.
For a square Continental pillow, both sides should measure the same.

Match the Insert, Protector and Pillowcase

Compare the measured width and length.
Select the same size for the pillow insert, protector and pillowcase.
Size up only when the pillow is genuinely oversized or heavily overfilled.

An exact fit keeps the pillow smooth, prevents excess fabric and avoids strain on the pillowcase or protector. Linen & Co pillow protectors use a flap or envelope closure rather than a zip.
