Duvet Inners Care Guide

Duvet Inners Care Guide

Duvet Inners Microfibre Natural Cotton Goose Feather & Down

Fill-specific care guidance for microfibre, natural cotton, and goose feather and down duvet inners.

Overview

Proper care of your duvet inners helps maintain comfort, hygiene, loft, and long-term performance.
Different fill materials require specific handling to preserve their structure and extend product lifespan in both hospitality and residential settings.
Always check the product label for any specific care requirements before cleaning.

Luxury Microfibre Duvet Inners

  • Machine wash on a gentle cycle using warm water (40°C).
  • Use a mild liquid detergent. Avoid powder detergents that may not dissolve fully and leave residue in the fill.
  • Do not overload the washing machine. Duvet inners need space to move freely for proper cleaning and rinsing.
  • Do not use fabric softener. It coats the fibres and may reduce loft and breathability over time.
  • Do not use chlorine bleach. If whitening is needed, use a mild oxygen-based bleach only.
  • Tumble dry on a low to medium heat setting.
  • Add clean tennis balls or dryer balls to help break up clumps and restore loft during drying.
  • Ensure the inner is completely dry before use or storage. Residual moisture may cause odour or mildew.
  • Shake and fluff after drying to redistribute the fill evenly.
  • Air out regularly between washes to maintain freshness.

Natural Cotton Duvet Inners

  • Machine wash on a gentle cycle using cool to warm water (30°C to 40°C).
  • Use a mild liquid detergent suitable for natural fibres.
  • Do not overload the washing machine. Cotton-filled inners are heavier when wet and need adequate space.
  • Do not use fabric softener. It may coat the cotton fill and reduce breathability.
  • Do not use chlorine bleach. Use a mild oxygen-based alternative only if necessary.
  • Tumble dry on a low heat setting. Cotton fill takes longer to dry than synthetic alternatives.
  • Add clean dryer balls to help prevent the fill from clumping during drying.
  • Ensure the inner is fully dry throughout before use or storage. Cotton retains moisture more than synthetic fills, so extra drying time may be needed.
  • Shake and fluff after drying to help redistribute the fill evenly.
  • Air out regularly in a well-ventilated space to maintain freshness and reduce moisture build-up.

Goose Feather and Down Duvet Inners

  • Professional cleaning is recommended for goose feather and down inners to preserve loft, structure, and natural oils in the down.
  • If machine washing at home, use a large-capacity front-loading machine on a gentle cycle with cool water (30°C).
  • Use a specialist down detergent or a very mild liquid detergent. Standard detergents may strip the natural oils from the down and reduce its insulating properties.
  • Do not use fabric softener, chlorine bleach, or harsh chemicals.
  • Rinse thoroughly. Down and feather fills can trap detergent residue, which may cause clumping and reduce loft.
  • Tumble dry on a low heat setting. Down inners take significantly longer to dry than synthetic alternatives.
  • Add clean tennis balls or dryer balls to help break up clumps and restore the natural loft of the down.
  • Ensure the inner is completely dry throughout before use or storage. Even slight residual moisture can cause odour, mildew, or damage to the down.
  • Shake and fluff regularly — both after drying and during everyday use — to maintain even fill distribution.
  • Air out regularly in a well-ventilated space. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight, which may affect the natural oils in the down.
  • Use a duvet cover at all times to protect the inner from body oils, moisture, and general wear.

General Care Tips

  • Always use a duvet cover to protect the inner from direct contact with skin, oils, and moisture.
  • Air out your duvet inner regularly by laying it flat or hanging it in a well-ventilated space.
  • Shake and fluff your duvet daily or when making the bed to help maintain even fill distribution and loft.
  • Avoid sitting, standing, or placing heavy items on top of duvet inners, as this may compress the fill and reduce comfort.
  • Spot clean small marks or spills with a damp cloth and mild detergent rather than washing the entire inner unnecessarily.
  • Wash or professionally clean duvet inners once or twice a year under normal use, or more frequently in hospitality settings as required.
  • Always check the product label before washing for any fill-specific instructions.

Storage & Maintenance

  • Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
  • Ensure the duvet inner is completely dry before storing.
  • Use a breathable cotton or fabric storage bag. Do not store in sealed plastic, as trapped moisture may cause odour, mildew, or damage to the fill.
  • Store flat or loosely folded. Avoid tightly compressing the inner for extended periods, as this may affect loft and recovery.
  • Keep away from direct sunlight, damp conditions, and heat sources.
  • For seasonal storage, air out the inner before packing away and again before first use in the new season.
  • Rotate duvet inners in hospitality settings to promote even wear across stock.

Warranty & Liability

  • All duvet inners are covered by our quality guarantee when cared for in accordance with the recommended instructions.
  • Damage caused by improper washing, excessive heat, bleaching, harsh chemicals, fabric softener use, misuse, or poor storage may void the warranty.
  • Warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, natural changes in loft over time, or damage resulting from failure to follow care instructions.
  • Please retain your proof of purchase for any warranty-related queries.
