Washing
Polycotton Percale 200TC is engineered for commercial laundering environments and maintains exceptional durability through frequent washing cycles. Follow these guidelines to preserve colour, softness, and structural integrity.
- Machine wash at 60°C on a regular or commercial cycle
- Use a mild, pH-neutral detergent suitable for commercial laundering
- Wash with similar colours to prevent dye transfer
- Do not overload the washing machine; allow adequate water circulation
- Avoid bleach unless oxygen-based; chlorine bleach may damage fibres and fade colours
- Do not use fabric softeners, as these reduce absorbency and breathability
- Separate heavily soiled items from lightly soiled linens
- Pre-treat stubborn stains with cold water and enzyme-based detergent before washing
Drying
Polycotton's rapid-drying properties make it ideal for high-turnover hospitality environments. Proper drying extends product lifespan and maintains crispness.
- Tumble dry on medium heat
- Remove items promptly to prevent wrinkles and musty odours
- Avoid over-drying, which can weaken fibres and cause brittleness
- For line drying, hang items in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight
- Polycotton dries 30% faster than 100% cotton, reducing energy costs
Ironing & Pressing
Polycotton's wrinkle-resistant properties minimise ironing requirements, making it cost-effective for hospitality operations.
- Iron on low to medium heat if desired; polycotton requires minimal ironing
- Use a steam press for efficiency in high-volume environments
- Iron while slightly damp for best results
- Avoid excessive heat, which may damage the fabric blend
- Many hospitality operations skip ironing entirely due to the fabric's natural crispness
Stain Removal
Immediate action is essential for optimal stain removal. Polycotton's tight weave resists staining better than 100% cotton.
- Treat stains immediately with cold water; hot water may set protein-based stains
- Use enzyme-based detergents for organic stains (blood, food, bodily fluids)
- Blot, do not rub, to avoid pushing stains deeper into fibres
- For wine, coffee, or tea stains, rinse with cold water and apply enzyme detergent
- For grease stains, apply a small amount of mild dish soap before washing
- Test any stain treatment on a hidden area first
- Avoid chlorine bleach; use oxygen-based alternatives for whites only
Storage & Maintenance
Proper storage protects linens between use and extends product longevity.
- Store in a clean, dry, well-ventilated area
- Avoid damp environments, which encourage mildew and odours
- Do not store in direct sunlight, which may fade colours over time
- Rotate stock regularly to ensure even wear
- Keep linens away from harsh chemicals, perfumes, and strong odours
- Use breathable storage containers; avoid plastic bags for extended storage
- Inspect linens regularly for damage and address repairs promptly
Commercial Washing Durability
Polycotton Percale 200TC is rated for 200–250 commercial wash cycles, making it ideal for busy hospitality environments.
- Expect consistent colour retention and structural integrity through extended use
- The 50/50 polycotton blend provides superior durability compared to 100% cotton
- Polycotton is 40% more wrinkle-resistant than cotton, reducing pressing time
- Rapid drying reduces laundry turnaround and operational costs
- High rub resistance (40,000+ cycles) ensures seams and stitching remain intact
Sustainability & Care
Caring for polycotton linens responsibly extends their lifespan and reduces environmental impact.
- Follow care instructions to maximise product longevity
- Repair minor damage (loose seams, small tears) promptly to prevent further deterioration
- Donate or recycle linens at end of life rather than discarding
- Use eco-friendly detergents when possible to reduce chemical impact
- Bulk washing reduces water and energy consumption per item
