Blanket Care Guide

Duvet Inners Microfibre Natural Cotton Goose Feather & Down

Fabric-specific care guidance for microfibre, acrylic, and cotton blankets.

Overview

Proper blanket care helps maintain warmth, softness, appearance, and overall product longevity.

This guide covers the recommended care instructions for the blanket types available in the Linen and Co collection.

Always follow the correct care method for the specific fabric to preserve performance and finish.

Overview

The Linen and Co blanket collection includes four product types, each with distinct fabric properties and care requirements:

  • Super Plush Microfibre Blankets — Fine filament microfibre with ultra-soft hand feel. Lightweight, hypoallergenic, and machine washable. Available in one generous size (200 × 240 cm) and five colours.
  • Lily Hotel Acrylic Blankets — Acrylic fur pile with a dense, plush texture. Available in five sizes (Single to King) and two neutral colours (Beige, Grey).
  • Belfiore Hotel Acrylic Blankets — Acrylic fur pile with a luxurious, fur-like finish. Available in five sizes (Single to King) and seven sophisticated colours.
  • Cotton Cellular Blankets — 100% cotton with a breathable cellular weave. Available in one size (180 × 230 cm) and six colours.

Each blanket type is designed for both hospitality and residential use. Follow the care instructions below for the specific fabric in your blanket to maintain its quality, softness, and appearance over time.

Plush Microfibre Blankets

Washing

  • Machine wash on a gentle or delicate cycle at 30°C (cold)
  • Use a mild, pH-neutral liquid detergent
  • Wash separately or with similar colours to prevent dye transfer
  • Do not overload the machine — the blanket needs room to move freely
  • Avoid chlorine bleach; use oxygen-based bleach sparingly on white blankets only
  • Do not use fabric softener — it can coat microfibre and reduce softness over time

Drying

  • Tumble dry on a low heat setting
  • Remove promptly when dry to prevent static and creasing
  • Air drying is also suitable — lay flat or hang in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight
  • Do not overdry; excessive heat can damage microfibre filaments

Ironing

  • Ironing is generally not required
  • If needed, use the lowest heat setting with a pressing cloth to protect the fabric surface
  • Do not apply steam directly to microfibre

Stain Removal

  • Treat stains as soon as possible — blot gently with a clean, damp cloth
  • For food or drink spills, apply a small amount of mild detergent to the stain and blot from the outside in
  • Rinse the area with cold water before washing
  • Avoid rubbing, which can push the stain deeper into the fibres

Lily Hotel Acrylic Blankets

Washing

  • Professional dry cleaning is recommended for best results
  • If machine washing is necessary, use a gentle cycle at 30°C with a mild detergent
  • Wash separately to prevent friction and pilling
  • Do not use bleach of any kind
  • Do not use fabric softener

Drying

  • Lay flat to dry in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and heat sources
  • Do not tumble dry — heat can damage the acrylic fur pile and cause matting
  • Reshape the blanket while damp to maintain its original dimensions

Ironing

  • Do not iron acrylic blankets
  • Heat will flatten and permanently damage the fur pile texture

Stain Removal

  • Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth
  • For stubborn stains, spot clean with a damp cloth and a small amount of mild detergent
  • Do not rub or scrub the pile — this can cause matting and damage the surface texture
  • Allow the treated area to air dry completely

Belfiore Hotel Acrylic Blankets

Washing

  • Professional dry cleaning is recommended to preserve the dense fur pile finish
  • If machine washing is necessary, use a gentle cycle at 30°C with a mild detergent
  • Wash separately to prevent friction, pilling, and colour transfer
  • Do not use bleach of any kind
  • Do not use fabric softener

Drying

  • Lay flat to dry in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and heat sources
  • Do not tumble dry — heat can flatten and permanently damage the acrylic fur pile
  • Gently shake the blanket once dry to restore the pile's natural loft

Ironing

  • Do not iron acrylic blankets
  • Direct heat will flatten the pile and damage the surface texture permanently

Stain Removal

  • Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth — do not rub
  • For persistent stains, spot clean with a damp cloth and a small amount of mild detergent
  • Work gently from the outside of the stain inward to prevent spreading
  • Allow the treated area to air dry completely before use

Cotton Cellular Blankets

Washing

  • Machine wash on a gentle cycle at 40°C (warm)
  • Use a mild liquid detergent suitable for cotton
  • Wash whites separately to maintain brightness
  • Wash coloured blankets with similar colours to prevent dye transfer
  • Do not use chlorine bleach on coloured blankets; oxygen-based bleach may be used sparingly on whites
  • Do not use fabric softener — it can clog the cellular weave and reduce breathability

Drying

  • Tumble dry on a low heat setting
  • Remove promptly when dry to minimise creasing
  • Air drying is recommended where possible — hang or lay flat in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight
  • Do not overdry; excessive heat can cause cotton shrinkage

Ironing

  • Iron on a medium heat setting if needed
  • Use steam for best results
  • Iron whilst slightly damp for easier wrinkle removal

Stain Removal

  • Treat stains promptly — rinse with cold water before applying any treatment
  • Apply a small amount of mild detergent directly to the stain and blot gently
  • For blood stains, soak in cold water with an enzyme-based detergent before washing
  • For food or drink stains, blot excess liquid, apply stain remover, then wash as normal
  • Always test any stain treatment on an inconspicuous area first

General Care Tips

  • Always check the care label before washing any blanket for the first time
  • Wash blankets separately or with similar fabrics to prevent friction and damage
  • Avoid overloading the washing machine — blankets need space to move freely for thorough cleaning
  • Never use chlorine bleach on coloured blankets
  • Avoid fabric softener on all blanket types — it can reduce softness, breathability, and pile quality
  • Rotate blankets regularly in hospitality settings to distribute wear evenly
  • Inspect blankets periodically for loose threads, pilling, or signs of wear and address promptly
  • For hospitality environments, follow your laundry provider's guidelines for commercial washing temperatures and cycles

Storage & Maintenance

  • Always wash and dry blankets thoroughly before storing to prevent mildew and odours
  • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture
  • Use breathable cotton storage bags or linen cupboards — avoid plastic bags, which trap moisture
  • Do not compress acrylic fur pile blankets tightly during storage, as this can flatten the pile permanently
  • Fold cotton cellular blankets loosely to allow air circulation and prevent permanent creases
  • Add lavender sachets or cedar blocks to deter pests and keep blankets fresh
  • Rotate stored blankets periodically to prevent creasing and ensure even condition
  • For hospitality stock, maintain a first-in, first-out rotation to distribute use evenly
