HOW TO MEASURE
How to Measure - Readymade Curtains
Measure your curtain rod or track and the finished drop you need — not the old curtain — to choose the right readymade curtain size.
1. Identify Your Hanging System
- Eyelet curtains: Designed to slide directly onto a curtain rod.
- Taped curtains: Designed for curtain tracks or rods using hooks or rings.
- Confirm whether you are replacing an existing curtain or fitting a new rail, track or rod.
2. Measure the Width
- Measure the full width of the curtain rod or track.
- For rods, measure between the finials — not including the decorative end caps.
- Each readymade curtain panel is 265cm wide before gathering.
- Use one panel for narrower windows or multiple panels for wider windows and a fuller hotel-style look.
3. Measure the Drop
- Eyelet curtains: Measure from the top of the rod to where you want the curtain to finish.
- Taped curtains: Measure from the track or hook position to the desired finished length.
- Choose standard length for most rooms or extra length for higher ceilings and longer drops.
4. Check the Finished Look
- Decide whether the curtain should sit just above the floor, touch the floor or puddle slightly.
- Check for skirtings, heaters, furniture, handles or uneven floors before ordering.
- For hospitality rooms, keep the finished drop consistent across rooms for a cleaner, more professional result.
Readymade Curtain Sizes
| Header Style | Panel Width | Standard Length | Extra Length | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Eyelet | 265cm | 220cm | 250cm | Curtain rods with a clean, modern wave finish |
| Tape | 265cm | 220cm | 250cm | Tracks, rails and more tailored gathered curtains |
For a fuller hospitality finish, allow generous curtain width so the fabric can gather properly instead of sitting flat across the window.
For projects, guesthouses, lodges and hotels, measure every room separately and keep a room-by-room schedule of rod or track width, finished drop, header style and quantity required.
