Choose the fixing type
Recess fix sits inside the window or door opening. Face fix sits outside the opening and gives more coverage and privacy.
Made-to-measure blinds
Use a steel tape measure and record every measurement in millimetres. First choose whether the blind will sit inside the opening (recess fix) or outside it (face fix). Because final allowances differ between blind ranges, always check the How To Measure section on the blind you are ordering before entering the finished width and drop.

Measure the inside width at the top, middle and bottom. Measure the inside drop on the left, middle and right. Record the smallest width and the smallest drop — do not use the longest drop.
Measure the outside width and drop of the opening. Where possible, add 50–75mm to each side and 75–150mm above the opening for better privacy and coverage.
Check handles, burglar bars, tiles, skirtings, vents and anything else that could affect the brackets or operation. Label each window when ordering more than one blind.
Most Venetian and Zebra blind guides use the smallest recess width and drop, less 10mm. The Blockout Roller Blind guide currently uses the smallest width and drop without that deduction. Follow the exact guidance on your chosen blind product before entering the finished size. Made-to-order blinds cannot be returned or exchanged for incorrectly supplied measurements.
