Wetsafe Mattress & Pillow Protector Care Guide

Wetsafe Waterproof Hospitality Home

Care guidance for quilted and towelling Wetsafe protectors with a breathable polyurethane waterproof barrier

Overview

Wetsafe Mattress and Pillow Protectors feature a soft surface layer, either quilted or towelling, combined with a breathable, noiseless polyurethane waterproof barrier.

This dual-layer construction provides reliable liquid protection whilst maintaining comfort and breathability.

Proper care is essential to preserve the waterproof layer and extend product lifespan.

Washing Instructions

  • Machine wash before first use to freshen the product and remove any packaging residue.
  • Wash in cold or lukewarm water, ideally at 30°C to 40°C.
  • Use a mild detergent suitable for protective bedding fabrics.
  • Wash separately or with similar lightweight bedding items.
  • Do not overload the washing machine, as protectors need space to rinse thoroughly.
  • Use a gentle to normal wash cycle depending on the item and level of soiling.
  • For hospitality use, wash regularly to maintain hygiene and product performance.

Drying Instructions

  • Line dry where possible to help preserve the protective layers and fabric integrity.
  • If tumble drying is permitted, use a low heat setting only.
  • Do not use high heat, as this may affect waterproof backing, quilting, or protective finishes.
  • Remove promptly once dry to reduce creasing.
  • Ensure the protector is fully dry before placing it back on the bed or pillow.
  • Avoid over-drying, as prolonged heat exposure may reduce product lifespan.

Ironing Instructions

  • Do not iron unless the specific product label clearly states that ironing is safe.
  • High heat may damage waterproof layers, quilting, or protective coatings.
  • If a removable outer layer is suitable for ironing, follow the care instructions for that layer only.

Bleaching Instructions

  • Do not use chlorine bleach.
  • Avoid harsh whitening agents or strong chemical treatments.
  • If necessary, use a mild, non-chlorine stain treatment suitable for the fabric.
  • Always test any treatment on a small, hidden area first.
  • Harsh bleaching products may damage the fabric and reduce protective performance.

Dry Cleaning Instructions

  • Dry cleaning is not generally recommended for mattress and pillow protectors.
  • Solvent-based cleaning may affect waterproof layers or internal protective components.
  • If professional cleaning is needed, use a cleaner experienced with protective bedding products and always confirm suitability first.

Care Warnings

  • Do not use excessive heat during washing, drying, or any aftercare process.
  • Do not wash with sharp or abrasive items such as garments with zips, hooks, or rough trims.
  • Do not leave damp protectors folded or sitting in the machine after washing.
  • Improper care may affect waterproofing, quilting, fit, or overall product performance.
  • Always ensure the item is fully dry before reuse or storage.

Stain Removal Tips

  • Treat spills and marks as soon as possible.
  • Blot gently with a clean cloth rather than rubbing.
  • Use a mild stain remover suitable for bedding fabrics.
  • Test any stain treatment on a hidden area first.
  • Avoid harsh solvents or aggressive chemical cleaners.
  • Wash after spot treatment to remove any remaining residue.

Storage Instructions

  • Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space.
  • Ensure the item is completely dry before folding and storing.
  • Avoid tightly sealing in plastic if moisture may be trapped.
  • Store flat or folded neatly to help maintain shape.
  • Keep away from prolonged direct sunlight and heat sources.
  • Rotate regularly used protectors to encourage even wear over time.
