Blanket Care Guide

Proper care of your hotel blankets ensures longevity, maintains warmth performance, and preserves the luxury feel of your premium bedding. This guide covers care instructions for all four blanket types available in the Linen and Co collection.

Super Plush Microfibre Blankets

Washing Instructions

  • Machine wash in cold water on a gentle or delicate cycle to prevent fibre damage.
  • Wash separately from other items to avoid pilling and colour transfer.
  • Use mild detergent only.
  • Avoid fabric softeners, optical brighteners, and bleach (these can damage the fine filament structure and reduce softness).

Drying

  • Tumble dry on low heat only.
  • Avoid high heat (it can melt microfibre fibres together and permanently destroy softness and loft).
  • Remove promptly from the dryer to prevent wrinkles.
  • For commercial laundering, ensure low-temperature drying and adequate ventilation.

Stain Removal

  • Treat stains immediately for best results.
  • For fresh spills: blot with a damp cloth and mild detergent solution.
  • For set-in stains: pre-soak in cold water with mild detergent for 24–48 hours before washing.
  • Use a gentle enzyme cleaner for stubborn stains.
  • Always test on a hidden area first.

Deodorising

  • Air the blanket regularly in a well-ventilated space or outdoors.
  • Sprinkle baking soda over the surface, leave for 15–30 minutes, then vacuum thoroughly.
  • This naturally refreshes the blanket without chemicals.

Storage and Maintenance

  • Store in a clean, dry location away from direct sunlight.
  • Fold loosely to prevent permanent creasing.
  • Use a breathable storage bag to protect from dust.
  • Avoid prolonged compression.
  • Rotate blankets regularly to ensure even wear.

Lily Hotel Acrylic Blankets

Washing Instructions

  • Machine wash on a cold, delicate cycle.
  • Wash separately to preserve colour vibrancy and prevent pilling.
  • Use mild detergent only.
  • Avoid fabric softeners and bleach.
  • Cold water is essential to prevent fibre damage and colour fading.

Drying

  • Tumble dry on low heat or air dry completely.
  • Avoid high heat (can damage acrylic fibres and cause shrinkage).
  • Remove promptly from the dryer to prevent wrinkles.
  • For commercial laundering, use low-temperature settings and ensure adequate ventilation.

Stain Removal

  • Treat stains immediately by spot cleaning with a damp cloth and mild detergent solution.
  • For stubborn stains: use a gentle enzyme cleaner or a white vinegar solution (1 part vinegar to 2 parts water).
  • Rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry.
  • Always test on a hidden area first.

Pilling Prevention

  • Acrylic blankets may shed slightly during the first few washes (this is normal and will diminish over time).
  • Use a lint roller or soft brush to gently remove loose fibres.
  • Avoid washing with rough fabrics that can cause pilling.

Storage and Maintenance

  • Store in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight.
  • Fold loosely to prevent permanent creasing.
  • Use a breathable storage bag.
  • Rotate regularly to ensure even wear and colour consistency.

Washing Instructions

Cotton Cellular Blankets

Washing Instructions

  • Machine wash on a gentle or delicate cycle in warm to cold water.
  • Wash separately to preserve colour vibrancy and prevent colour transfer.
  • Use mild detergent only.
  • Avoid bleach and fabric softeners (these can damage the cellular weave and reduce breathability).

Drying

  • Tumble dry on low to medium heat, or air dry completely.
  • Remove promptly from the dryer to prevent wrinkles and mildew.
  • For commercial laundering, ensure adequate ventilation during drying to maintain the cellular structure and softness.

Stain Removal

  • Treat stains immediately for best results.
  • For fresh spills: blot with a damp cloth and mild detergent solution.
  • For set-in stains: use a gentle enzyme cleaner or a white vinegar solution (1 part vinegar to 2 parts water).
  • Always test on a hidden area first before treating the entire stain.

Shrinkage Prevention

  • Cotton naturally shrinks slightly when washed.
  • To minimise shrinkage, wash in cold water on a gentle cycle.
  • Avoid high heat drying.
  • If shrinkage occurs, it typically stabilises after the first wash.

Storage and Maintenance

  • Store in a clean, dry location away from direct sunlight.
  • Fold loosely to prevent permanent creasing.
  • Use a breathable storage bag.
  • Rotate regularly to ensure even wear.
  • Cotton blankets benefit from regular airing in natural sunlight to maintain freshness.

General Care Tips for All Blankets

  • All blanket types are suitable for commercial washing machines.
  • Use mild detergent, cold to warm water (depending on material), and gentle cycles.
  • Ensure low-temperature drying and adequate ventilation.
  • Microfibre and acrylic blankets require particular care with low heat settings.

Warranty and Liability

  • This care guide is integral to product warranty validity.
  • Improper care, including high-heat drying, use of bleach, fabric softeners, optical brighteners, dry cleaning, or ironing, may void warranty coverage.
  • Linen and Co is not responsible for damage resulting from non-compliance with these instructions or normal wear and tear.
